A1. We got engaged what should we do first?
We would like to first Congratulate you on this momentous and special occasion.
Hurray Clapping Yippee Whistling Wahoo Happy Tears Alright Back Flips Congrats!
Whether it's your first wedding, or not, the ceremony location needs to be known and secured first. This can be anywhere like your reception hall, public park, or even the backyard. Please use common sense in selecting a location, especially if you have the elderly attending.
Then, the second most important thing to do is book a Minister / Officiant to perform your ceremony As Soon As Possible. Because without them it's just another party.

A2. We don't attend service regularly / We are an interfaith couple / We are an inter-cultural couple ... what do we do to get married?
You can go to your childhood religious leader/ group and present this issue to them and if they can't help you, please feel free to contact us. We have performed many ceremonies and are non-judgmental regardless to what you want to incorporate into your wedding. We will help you make that special day one to remember!
A3. What is the difference between going to a JP/ Magistrate and you?
The majority of JPs / Magistrates have less leisure time as they would like. The ones who still perform the ceremony in their chambers have set schedules and hours. And, weekends are almost always out of the question.
We are different by ways that we can travel to your location; even if it's Out of State. We know that weekend weddings are a must. And you won't hear us sentence the pervious couple to life with no parole (then again ...).

A4. Do we need Pre-marital or Post-marital Counseling?
No but yes if you feel the need to. We have couples from all walks of life. We understand that every individual person has their own point of views from what they have learned growing up. As each will bring onto the table their personal life, experiences and understanding. It takes time, patience and collaboration to have a successful marriage. To succeed in any relationship don't ever stonewall your partner, as this will inevitably end the relationship! If you feel the need to seek professional counseling we do recommend it as soon as possible. Even though we are not licensed practitioners, but you still fell a need to sit down and talk we can do so. Just know that I will discuss the issues on a personal level and not as a state licensed counselor. We have successfully reunited a couple that was at the brink of divorce, which both had common goals but took different paths to achieve them.

A5. When should we apply for our Marriage License and how much does it cost?
We recommend applying for your Marriage License no later than two (2) weeks before your ceremony date. The Marriage License from your County Courthouse is valid only for sixty (60) days. Therefore if for any reason you need to change the wedding date (due to inclement weather or other reasons) you have a little leeway.
The cost to obtain a Marriage License differs from county to county, so it's best to call your nearest County Courthouse (click here for phone number) for more information and what you need as forms of identification, payment types and cost (as each county has different fees).
Pun Nuptials does not obtain the marriage license for you, as it is your responsibility. Also, ask the County Courthouse whether they'll mail your Certified Copy or do you have to personally pick it up. (Click here for additional information regarding the Certified Copy)

A6. We reside in a different county than where we are getting married at, where should we get our Marriage License?
You can obtain a Marriage License from any County Courthouse in PA and get married anywhere within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. If the ceremony is held in New Jersey or New York you must apply in the county/ borough where the ceremony is to be held.

A7. We have special circumstances and would like to have a ceremony tailored to us, can we do this?
ABSOLUTELY! We meet with numerous couples and perform over 200 hundred ceremonies each year. We give everyone the opportunity to tailor a ceremony special to both of you, after all this is what it's all about. We can incorporate your children, parents, past-on loved ones or just about anything. Please let us know what's on your mind and we will do everything in our power to accommodate your situation and circumstance.

A8. What is the cost of your service and how do we reserve our date?
The cost is flexible to your needs, we have different packages that are fully customizable (click here for prices) with everything up front and on the table. What you see is what you get and everything is black and white (but sometimes we like to add a little color). No hidden cost or charges.
To reserve your ceremony date is easy; you can either fill out the on-line request form and we will call you (click here for form), call us at 610/ 351-7511 or e-mail us [email protected] After the telephone consultation you may make a deposit to reserve your date and time either by PayPal, at the in-person consultation or by mail. It's just that easy.
A9. How soon can we get a response once we fill out the request form or leave a message on the voice mail?
If you contacted us on the weekend (Thursday - Sunday) it will be delayed a bit because we are either performing a Rehearsal, Wedding, Consultation, Baptism, etc. Please understand that you are our life line and without you, there would not be a need for us. Therefore, we will get back to you the moment we get the chance. To help speed up the process, please let us know the best days, times, and the latest we can call to contact you and we will do so.
A10. What should I say when leaving a message on your machine?
When leaving a phone message please speak slowly and clearly; stating your name, the ceremony date and time, your phone number and repeating it twice (2x), and please let us know the best days, times, the latest we can call to contact you and we will do so.
When using a cell phone sometime the connection breaks in and out, so please try to have a good signal before calling.

A11. We don't have a ceremony location, can you recommend one?
Yes we can, just click on this link and you will see a list of locations that we have performed at. It is all ordered by county first then the locations which are all in alphabetical order.
A12. We live together and we can't or don't want to get legally married, can we still have a ceremony performed?
YES you can. It sounds like you need an Affirmation of Love ceremony. This is an alternative to the traditional marriage in which a couple or partners living together in a free relationship, which is not sanctioned by the State nor the Church. Such a relationship was once regarded as "living in sin" by the established churches, and there are still many people who will not recognize any alternative to the traditional marriage. We only believe in that which is right for the individuals. Each individual has the privilege and responsibility to determine what is right for him or her - as long as it does not infringe on the rights of others!

A13. This might sound strange, but can you perform a double wedding?
This is not a strange request at all. We can and have performed double ceremonies in the past and we understand there are numerous reasons why. Whether it's financial issues, simplicity or just because the other couple is so special to you. We love unique wedding ideas and will be there to assist you in making your Ceremony an event to remember.
We can also perform your wedding along with your parents, grandparents or any couple(s) who would like to renew their vows.
A14. What will you wear to our ceremony?
Nothing ... nothing you don't want us to, that is. We like to accommodate as much as possible. Our ministers have one or all of the following (please specify if you want a certain color or attire); clergy (white collar tab), robe, suit and tie, dress and if it's a themed wedding (Hawaiian, Harley, 60's, Beach, etc.) we can do that as well. Just let us know as we love to have fun too.
A15. We had to change the date and /or time of the rehearsal / ceremony, what is the best way to contact you?
E-mail is the best way to update us with the changes. Please use this in the subject line: Update for NAME and NAME on DATE (i.e. Update for Brenda and Marc for 2-29-08). Also, give as much detail to the changes (date, time, locations, etc.) as possible.
If you don't have convenient internet access you can leave a phone message. Please speak slowly and clearly, repeating your phone number twice (2x), and tell us your changes.
When using a cell phone sometime the connection breaks in and out, so please try to have a good signal before calling.

A16. Which forms of payment do you accept?
We accept Cash, Money Order, Cashiers Check and Personal Check. Please note all returned checks for any reason are subject to a $75.00 return fee plus the face amount of the check. We will also no longer accept your checks for any payments thereafter and you must pay in cash.
If you want to use a Credit Card (Master Card, Visa, American Express, Discover) we can do that. We use PayPal (click here) to process the credit card information and eCheck as well. FYI: You do not need an account with PayPal to use this feature, just follow the instructions.
A17. We are printing programs for the ceremony, what is the list of service?
This is an easy one. Click here and you will be directed to the page that has the list of service. Then scroll down and click on the package that you have chosen; you can refer back to your Ceremony Agreement that we all signed if you don't remember which one you picked. Don't forget to add any Bonus Segments you may have chosen. You can also ask for a copy at the consultation.
A18. We are planning an extreme wedding, would you be interested in performing ours?
Would I be interested? You bet cha I am! Whether it's on a roller coaster, hot air balloon, scuba diving, or anything you can imagine. If you think to yourselves or someone tells you "no one will do that, it’s just crazy" then give us a call. But all rules and safety policies MUST be followed.
B1. When is the payment due for the remainder of the balance?
It's stated on the Ceremony Agreement; "Payment form of check or money order must be received 14 business days prior to the date of ceremony with payments made payable to: Pun Nuptials. CASH will be the ONLY form of payment received on the date of the ceremony or the rehearsal." If you need a receipt please let us know; we will hand you one (if pre-paid) the day of ceremony or mailed to you thereafter.
B2. When should we give you our Marriage License?
If you are having a rehearsal, you can give it to us that day. But, if you don't have a rehearsal, please designate someone to hand it to us before the start of the ceremony and someone to hand it to after the ceremony. This is very important; if there is another engagement we must head off to we don't want to be late. Just as, you would not want us to be late to your ceremony.
B3. Do you have any restrictions as far as photography and / or videography?
The only restriction we have is that they cannot get a bad shot of both of you. As photography hobbyist ourselves we understand the need to add a little flash or lighting to get a better shot. We believe it's absurd that someone would restrict another professional to do their job right. But it happens; make sure it doesn’t happen to yours!
B4. What would happen if we start later than our original scheduled time?
We understand, first hand, some issues are out of our control. Due to the nature of this business, time is of the essence and the Minister will determine what their leeway is, if any. And if the ceremony still can't start on the new time, the Minister will have to leave to their next engagement and come back to perform yours later that day. Please note we will have to charge for the extra miles traveled between the two locations and the fee has to be paid before your ceremony will begin. Unfortunately, due to past experience we had to form this new policy. Thank you for your understanding on this matter.
B5. My rehearsal / ceremony date is around the corner and I am a panicky person can you please confirm numerous times that you'll be there?
We cannot confirm numerous times, but we can confirm once and then again should there be any changes. At the consultation, we all signed the Ceremony Agreement. This was to assure and secure your ceremony date and time. We do not have the luxury of volunteers, so we must make the best of our time. Repetitively confirming is time consuming for us, and takes away productivity from each of our other couples. Thank you for your understanding on this matter.
B6. When will you arrive to our rehearsal / ceremony?
Rest assure, we can sympathize with what you are going through. We have personally been in that situation. The minister that performed our ceremony was 15 minutes late and gave no explanation for her tardiness. Therefore, we understand the importance of being there on time. We (all Pun Nuptials Ministers) will arrive at least anywhere from ten (10) to thirty (30) minutes before the scheduled time. At times we may even arrive earlier than that. But some instances are just out of our control and there is nothing anyone can do to change that. (By this we mean accidents, road construction or anything else that may tie up traffic on the road that prevents us from getting there on time. Please know we will be there as soon as possible.)
B7. I've been at / in so many weddings, should we even have a rehearsal?
This would depend on you. But our recommendation is YES if you have Wedding Parties of more than two (2) on each side or if there are young children involved. We also recommend a rehearsal if you select either the Emerald or Diamond package. As professionals we will try to touch on every possible situation that could happen. As every wedding location differs in size and setup.
We will run through it at least twice (2), by the second time everyone should know what to do. But if you still don't feel comfortable we can try it again.
Please note if your ceremony location has their own coordinator, you must decide who will run the rehearsal. There is no reason to pay us just to have the coordinator tell us where to stand. If the coordinator must be there, confusion can and will set in. So please don't be afraid to speak up to let us or the coordinator know what you like or don't like.
B8. We are not having a rehearsal but can you just arrive a bit earlier to run things through quickly?
Yes we can, but it will still cost you the regular Rehearsal Fee. Because no matter how you slice it, it's still a rehearsal.
B9. We chose a Bonus Segment, will you supply us what we need?
We are so happy that you have selected one of the Bonus Segment, but due to the complexity and the differences in personality for each person it's hard to keep a variety of supplies. We can give you some ideas as what to get or even where to get them. But that is as far as we can assist on the supply.
B10. I am exchanging individual vows do I have to memorize it?
Absolutely ... not. Whether you write your own or select from ours; we will print your vows on a 5x8 index card(s), we will hand it to you during the ceremony, you read it and hand it back to us. No Memorizing. We will also print it in a large font to make it easier to read. And even if you believe that you can remember your vows, we will still have it with us ... just in case.
B11. I might get nervous and have butterflies once we are at center stage, if we freeze what are we going to do?
You don't have to worry about a thing. At any part if you get stuck on what to do we will whisper to you what needs to be done. And if you really think about it, the hardest part of the ceremony will be the processional and your grand entrance. This time frame will not last longer than two (2) minutes on average. Once you are at the alter you can relax because the rest of the ceremony is on us! We are the ones that have to perform before, during and after the ceremony. And all the pressure is on the Ministers now!
B12. Will the minister stay for the reception?
It's really hard to answer this one. First off we want you to know, you are not by any means obligated to have our ministers to stay. If you really want the minister there, we could check to be sure there are no other engagements for that minister to be at that day. If the minister is free and they would like to accept - than they can stay. But on the other hand, sometimes a minister attending the reception may be awkward for your guests. They might not act as they would should the minister not be there. So in reality, it's up to you.
Also, please let us know if you would like the minister to give grace before the meal is served. But if you want someone else to say grace that's fine with us too, just let us know either way.
B13. Our Keepsake from the County Courthouse, will you hand write it or use a laser printer?
You can have it either way. Just tell us what you need done on the day of the ceremony or rehearsal. But if you are going away after your ceremony (like a honeymoon) and need proof of your marriage, just tell us and we will hand write it on the spot so you can have it to show proof.
B14. We are in a special situation and would need to process the Marriage License ASAP, what can we do to speed it up?
All you have to do is let us know as soon as you can. We will fill out everything you need and all you have to do is hand the Duplicate back to the County Courthouse yourself in person. But please tell us you need this done. Please know, this can't be done for everyone, you must tell us your unique situation and the decision will be made.

C1. Now that we are married what happens next?
What you would do is wait at least fifteen (15) days after your ceremony date and give the County Courthouse a call to see if your license is processed and ready to pick up your Certified Marriage Record. (Some County Courthouses will automatically mail you the Certified Copy if you purchased it at the courthouse. When applying for your marriage license ask if your County Courthouse will do this; if not, you should ask them if they can (there will be a nominal fee.)
From experience, when my wife changed her last name, she made about 50 photocopies of the original Certified Marriage Record. She went to the Social Security Administration office first(Click here for Social Security web site) and then to Penn DOT (Click here for Penn DOT web site) make sure they don't keep your original Certified Copy. It has been said that some bank(s) and some bill companies; credit card, utilities, lenders, etc; need to see the originals too. You should contact all of them and ask them what's needed. To help with the process we created a helpful guideline during this daunting task. Visit Change Your Name Kit website by clicking here
Back to Top
C2. I'm not changing my surname; do I still need a Certified Copy from the County Courthouse?
The only time you would need it is during legal documentation (e.g. insurance, wills, financial institutions)
C3. My Keepsake Certificate from the County Courthouse has an area for an embossed seal, who does this?
We can put a seal on this if you like, but it is not needed to make it legal. You can either personally bring it in or mail it to us. If you are stopping by please give us a call and let us know when you might stop in. Please note it is not needed to do this, as this cannot be used for legal name change.
D1. My Courthouse has made me question everyone, are you legally able to perform weddings in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania?
Yes, we are legally able to perform your ceremony under the state law if you present us a valid Marriage License from the County Courthouse within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Under the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes within Domestic Relation Title 23; Part 1 Marriage; Chapter 15; § 1503 (a.)(6) Persons qualified to solemnize marriages. (Click here for the web site) we fall into the category of "Minister of a regularly established congregation." Our congregation, United We Worship (is Incorporated with the PA DOS), has elected to bring back the basics and give what we call "religious politics" the boot. If you need further clarification regarding this matter please feel free to contact us.
Just to inform you as well, some Register of Wills and Clerk of the Orphan's Court may still present you a letter stating: "Although this office has no legal position, or opinion as to the qualifications of the above officiate, we feel that you must be aware of the possibility that problems may arise in the future should the validity of the marriage be challenged." So what does this mean ... we believe it's to raise awareness that there are people who really can't legally perform marriages. But they, the County Courthouse, can't single any one person out, so they need to send this generic letter to all couples.
Note to couples who wants their family or friend ordained
online to perform the wedding:
Having them ordained online is not
the issue; it's what they do with the ordination that is pressing. If you read
the Declaratory Judgment case #2007-SU-002132-Y08 dated on September 7, 2007 by the Honorable Judge Maria Musti Cook, regarding the infamous couple in York county that wanted a divorce, she states and I quote: “… the statue purports to require an activity that occurs on a habitual or patterned periodic basis at a place of worship (church) or before a group of individuals gathered together for the same purpose (congregation). …”
Therefore the ordination is not the focus of the issue, it's if they are
ministering to a church or congregation. If they don't, then don't take the
chance of having your marriage become null and void by this one little
discrepancy. If you still want your friend or family member to perform the ceremony we can
make that happen. We have successfully come up with alternatives to make this
happen. Just contact us and we can go over the options.
D2. We are still interviewing other officiants, how long can you hold our ceremony date?
After our in person consultation with you; if you don't give a deposit before you leave, your ceremony date will only be held for a total of fourteen (14) days. If you don't believe that you will get a chance to meet with someone else within this time frame we will make exceptions and extend the time frame for you. We will also give you a courtesy call if someone inquires about that same date and time. If you do decide to hire Pun Nuptials as your officiant, let us know within that fourteen (14) days and we will welcome you with open arms!
D3. We had our consultation, and it's past the fourteen (14) days, we forgot to call and we still need your services, what do we do now?
Just call us; we may still have that slot available to you. Please note that you may not have to original minister scheduled to you. If perhaps you have chosen a minister, that minister may not be available but we will still have another minister to perform your ceremony.
D4. We chose another Minister to do our wedding, should we let you know?
Yes, please let us know ASAP. At any given time we get numerous request for a ceremony date. At times it's for the same date and time, so we would turn other couples away thinking that you needed us. We need to keep it fair and keep the lines of communication open for everyone. Thank you for your attention on this matter.
D5. I don't want to give out my personal and/or business e-mail, what should I do?
We suggest you make another one up, that's what we did ([email protected]). You can register for a free e-mail from many e-mail providers (i.e. Yahoo, Google, MSN / Hotmail, AOL, etc.) This way just incase someone somehow does sells your e-mail to a third party you won't need to worry about the spam or junk mail. Once your wedding is done, that e-mail will be out of sight and out of mind.
D6. We live too far / out of state, how do we have a consultation?
As you might have already seen, we are quite meticulous in what we do. To make things easier, after a deposit is made through PayPal or by mail we can either e-mail you or give you the webpage to make your ceremony selections with instructions. We will also e-mail you a ceremony agreement for you both to sign and mail back to us before the ceremony is to take place.
D7. How long can my ceremony date be held without a deposit?
You can refer back to question D2. (Click here to view that question)
D8. We missed the scheduled consultation, can you please still hold our date and time?
Yes, that's not a problem. We understand that situation arises at any given time. Just give us a call ASAP and reschedule a new consultation time and date. But if we call you to reschedule and you don't contact us back after the missed consultation your ceremony date will only be held for a total of fourteen (14) days. Even if you don't have time to talk - just call - leave us a message to let us know you still need us and we can reschedule in the future. SOME communication is better than NO communication.
D9. What if I scheduled a consultation but have no intention of showing up?
Please still give us a call to cancel. We all have families and nothing is worse for us than to sit for a hour or two (2) waiting for you to arrive and then never show up. Life is too short and we treasure every moment with our children. So please be considerate of everyone.
D10. We have scheduled a ceremony date but now my fiancé / fiancée and I broke up, what should we do?
First of all, please accept our deepest sympathies. Whatever the reason may be, the hurt will seem unbearable, but please know that everything happens for a reason. And once you realize the reason everything WILL get better. And at least it happened now rather than later. If you need to talk at anytime, we are here for you. And please do not feel embarrassed to call us or have someone else call like a parent, sibling or friend. We just need to know so that date and time can be filled by another couple.
D11. How much gratuity should I give to the minister?
Our ministers, at any given time like to donate and help the communities that surround us each day. Any gratuity given to a minister does help them in their cause. It is not by any means mandatory, but if the service was delivered as you have imagined, or better, you can feel free to do so. If you decide to mail in a gratuity for the minister please make a note of their name and ceremony date on the check.
FYI: Did you know the acronym for TIPS means To Insure Proper Service?
D12. We need to drop off payment or information for you, should we call or just stop by?
We recommend calling at least the day before first to make sure we are here if you need to stop by. We are constantly in and out of the office. But just in case you can't call and you are in the area, just drop the item(s) in the mail box. This is a locked mail box so there's no worry about security. Please make sure you have your ceremony date, time and your names on anything you drop off. Thank you for your cooperation on this matter.
D13. Why haven't we received any e-mails from you after the consultation, when you said you where going to?
We would say to first look in your bulk / junk / spam box. Due to the complexity of the spamming software there have been times even our own e-mail CC to ourselves has ended up in this folder. Also, make sure you don't have the "Delete Immediately" checked off. Or else you won't get a chance to see it and think it wasn't in there in the first place.
And please keep in mind that we have numerous couples to take care of each month. Even though you may not have received your e-mail on the date promised please know we will e-mail you as soon as we possibly can. Your patience is deeply appreciated.
